Definition and Definition of Film / Movie

While the players who play a role in the film are referred to as actors (men) or actresses (women). There is also the term extras that are used as supporting characters with few roles in the film. ❍❍❍ TV FILM ❍❍❍

The first television shows were experimental, sporadic broadcasts viewable only within a very short range from the broadcast tower starting in the 1930s. Televised events such as the 1936 Summer Olympics in Germany, the 19340 coronation of King George VI in the UK, and David Sarnoff’s famous introduction at the 1939 New York World’s Fair in the US spurred a growth in the medium, but World War II put a halt to development until after the war. The 19440 World MOVIE inspired many Americans to buy their first television set and then in 1948, the popular radio show Texaco Star Theater made the move and became the first weekly televised variety show, earning host Milton Berle the name “”Mr Television”” and demonstrating that the medium was a stable, modern form of entertainment which could attract advertisers. The first national live television broadcast in the US took place on September 4, 1951 when President Harry Truman’s speech at the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference in San Francisco was transmitted over AT&T’s transcontinental cable and microwave radio relay system to broadcast stations in local markets.

The first national color broadcast (the 1954 Tournament of Roses Parade) in the US occurred on January 1, 1954. During the following ten years most network broadcasts, and nearly all local programming, continued to be in black-and-white. A color transition was announced for the fall of 1965, during which over half of all network prime-time programming would be broadcast in color. The first all-color prime-time season came just one year later. In 19402, the last holdout among daytime network shows converted to color, resulting in the first completely all-color network season.

❍❍❍ formats and genres ❍❍❍

See also: List of genres § Film and television formats and genres

Television shows are more varied than most other forms of media due to the wide variety of formats and genres that can be presented. A show may be fictional (as in comedies and dramas), or non-fictional (as in documentary, news, and reality television). It may be topical (as in the case of a local newscast and some made-for-television films), or historical (as in the case of many documentaries and fictional MOVIE). They could be primarily instructional or educational, or entertaining as is the case in situation comedy and game shows.[citation needed]

A drama program usually features a set of actors playing characters in a historical or contemporary setting. The program follows their lives and adventures. Before the 1980s, shows (except for soap opera-type serials) typically remained static without story arcs, and the main characters and premise changed little.[citation needed] If some change happened to the characters’ lives during the episode, it was usually undone by the end. Because of this, the episodes could be broadcast in any order.[citation needed] Since the 1980s, many MOVIE feature progressive change in the plot, the characters, or both. For instance, Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere were two of the first American prime time drama television MOVIE to have this kind of dramatic structure,[4][better source needed] while the later MOVIE Babylon 5 further exemplifies such structure in that it had a predetermined story running over its intendevd five-season run.[citvatio””&n needed]

In 2007, it was reported that television was growing into a larger component of major media companies’ revenues than film.[5] Some also noted the increase in quality of some television programs. In 2007, Academy-Award-winning film director Steven Soderbergh, commenting on ambiguity and complexity of character and narrative, stated: “”I think those qualities are now being seen on television and that people who want to see stories that have those kinds of qualities are watching television.

The Most Beautiful Flags in the World

A country’s or region’s flag represents its people’s identity. It’s what makes them stand out at the Olympics, during international sports matches, and signals that they’re independent of any other country. While the idea of a flag is technically a simple one, these pieces of cloth have come to mean a lot to their people.

Trampling on a flag, or desecrating and insulting it in any way is usually seen as a punishable offence.  Some people don’t even want their flag to be on the floor or ground. They might not even like having their flag printed on a ball, as a ball will probably touch the ground. That’s how venerated flags are in certain places. In fact, most folks probably have some sort of emotional attachment to their flag even if they don’t like their country all that much.

Many flags also tell a story in the patterns, symbols, and colors in their designs. We know about the 13 colonies and 50 states represented in the American flag. Having said that, there are many beautiful flags in the world that we should know about. Let’s have a look at some of them now. But if you want to find out some of the most awesome vacation ideas for you and your family, click the link. HERREE :https://c.realme.com/eu/post-details/1535391774913650688

1. North Macedonia

Not only is this flag full of striking color, but there’s also an interesting history behind it. The pattern here is based on the ancient symbol, the Vergina Sun. This symbol was a part of ancient Greek history along with the ancient kinds of Macedon.

In 1992, when Macedonia gained its independence from the USSR, the country used this symbol for their flag—yellow on a red background. This caused a bit of a controversy, as neighboring Greece considered the symbol to be their own. They retaliated by putting an economic embargo on the new country Macedonia. The embargo worked as planned, so we now have the current flag as a sun with eight rays. This pattern is called ‘the new sun of Liberty’.

2. Bonaire

This country is part of the ABC islands; its sister islands are named Curacao and Aruba. While all three islands are technically under Dutch control, they’re regarded as special municipalities that are autonomous. Hence, they also have their own flags.

The flag of Bonaire is not without symbolism. It has dark blue to symbolize the sea, yellow for the sun, and the white representing the sky in between. In the middle of the black compass, there’s a red star to symbolize the Dutch connection. Finally, the four-pointed compass is to show that the people on the island come from all four corners of the globe.

A proper vexillologist (person who studies flags) helped to design this flag. It’s a bit tricky to include a crest or emblem on a flag, but the expert designing makes it possible in this case.

3. Marshall Islands

This flag might remind a layman viewer of an emblem in a science fiction book or movie. Its design was by the country’s First Lady, Emlain Kabua. While it might seem a bit futuristic, the flag has a design with a down to earth concept.

The diagonal band here represents the equator, with the white bar being sunrise and the orange symbolizing sunset. The star has 24 points, which represent the electoral districts in Marshall Islands. There are also four long points to symbolize the largest cities within these islands. So far, this is the only national flag with that many points on star. Meanwhile, check out the link if you want to discover the most affordable countries for students to visit.

4. Gibraltar

This flag definitely has a beautiful design, and one that evokes questions as well. This is one of the few flags with a dominant emblem; in this case, the castle and key represent the coat of arms for the country. This was granted in 1502 by Queen Isabella I of Castile.

The design here might be mistaken for a castle, but it’s actually meant to represent a fortress (the fortress of Gibraltar). Some might even say it looks like a stadium, especially if you’ve seen some of the most beautiful stadiums in the world. The design is based on the fact that Gibraltar, now classified as a British Overseas Territory, was once known as the ‘key to Spain’ according to the Moors.

The British named it the ‘key to the Mediterranean’. The latter name was to prove true in the course of history. The British captured this region in 1704 and still maintain a hold on it to this day. It took 63 warships and no less than 11 sieges, which is probably why the fortress is depicted with a key.

5. Rwanda

The flag of Rwanda was once the same as the flag of Guinea (for about 40 years), with just the letter R in the center to make it a little different. In 2001, however, the Rwandan flag underwent a complete transformation. It is now one of the world’s most distinctive flags.

The combination of colors is what makes this flag so beautiful. There’s a foundation of green, symbolizing hope and prosperity. The yellow is for economic development, while the sun represents enlightenment. The blue symbolizes peace and happiness.

The political history of Rwanda and its flag are closely intertwined. Many flags have resented this region when the European colonial powers dominated it. Its first flag was probably that of German East Africa, featuring a black cross and red square on white, with the square holding five white stars. After the First World War, Rwanda was occupied by Belgium after the defeat of Germany. At this time, Rwanda didn’t have its own colonial flag. It was under the Belgium flag itself. In 1959, Rwanda gained independence and adapted the Belgian flag for itself, but with Pan-African colors.

6. Papua New Guinea

The flag of this country is probably one of the most unusual flags in the world. It has the rare appearance of looking authoritative with a festive touch. The Southern Cross here is shared with the flags of New Zealand and Australia, but the really eye-catching feature is the bird.

To be more precise, this is the beautiful Raggiana bird-of-paradise, the national bird of Papua New Guinea.

The choice of the black and red colors is also interesting, as these are a popular feature of the native tribes within the country. Incidentally, these colors were also included in the flag of the German Empire, which possessed PNG until its independence in 1918. Yet another unique aspect of this flag is its shape; the ratio is 3:4 instead of the usual 1:2. While it’s not the only national flag without the 1:2 ratio rectangular shape, the feature is still a rare one.

7. Tanzania

The design of the Tanzanian flag might be somewhat simple, but the symbolism and contrast is what sets it apart. The green is pretty straightforward, symbolizing the rich agricultural resources of the country. The blue is for the Indian Ocean, which Tanzania borders upon. The black line is for the naive Swahili people in Tanzania.

The yellow lines, which provide a lovely contrast, are also a very telling part of the flag. They represent the ore being, or the large mineral deposits of the country. Some debate that the yellow actually represents the gold of Tanzania, which makes up a major part (over a billion dollar worth) of its exports. Other than the rich resources, the gorgeous heritage sites of this country make it well worth a visit.

8. Malawi

This country gained independence from the UK in 1964. On 6h July of that year, it also adopted this beautiful flag. Malawi is located in Southeastern Africa, and its flag represents a lot of important aspects of its identity.

For instance, the sun at the top of the flag is symbolizing the dawn of Malawi’s new, independent era. There are 31 rays coming out from the sun; this is to signify that Malawi was the 31st state that was free from colonized rule by the Europeans.

The black color on top is for the indigenous people, while the red is symbolizing the blood that was spilled to gain freedom. The green party represents the natural resources of the country. In just a few shapes and color, this flag has conveyed a tragic history, a message of hope, and a deep connection to its past. The design might not be a complex one, but it’s all the more beautiful for its rich history and symbolism.

Conclusion

There are several other flags in the world with beautiful and intriguing designs. The list above simply opens up the discussion for how flags can tell us about a country’s story, struggles, and their hopes for the future. Every little thing counts in a flag design; the colors, the contrasting shades, the patterns, and the emblems. Each of them represents something different, but it takes a lot of thought and effort to put everything together in a harmonious way. LIV golfers suspended by PGA hint at taking future legal action

Golfers suspended by the PGA Tour due to their participation in the breakaway Saudi LIV series have hinted they will pursue legal action in response to the decision.

As reported by Golf Digest, former US Open champion Graeme McDowell has insisted that players have spoken to lawyers and feel they shouldn't be put in a situation where they have to resign from their PGA Tour membership.

'I have spoken to some players,' he revealed. 'We have spoken to the lawyers. We have the LIV legal team which is fantastic. We have our own legal team.

'Some players have decided to resign and try to stay away from any litigation. But some guys believe they shouldn't be in the situation where they have to resign. They don't feel like they are doing anything wrong.'

McDowell resigned his PGA Tour membership just 30 minutes before teeing off on Thursday, insisting: 'I wanted to keep the moral high ground and remain a member of the tour because I really didn't feel like I needed to resign, or that I should have to resign. I resigned out of abundance of caution, honestly. I feel it puts me in a less litigious position.'

Ian Poulter, is one of those who feel that they should not resign from the tour and, unlike McDowell, has not yet done so.

A statement by PGA commissioner Jay Monahan was released before the event got underway

Dustin Johnson (left) is among those to resign from their PGA membership while Phil Mickelson (right) who hopes to play at the US Open has not offered his resignation to the Tour

Dustin Johnson (left) is among those to resign from their PGA membership while Phil Mickelson (right) who hopes to play at the US Open has not offered his resignation to the Tour

He said: 'I don’t feel like I’ve done anything wrong. I’ve played all over the world for 25 years. I’ve played a lot outside continental Europe.

'This event is no different; it’s the same. I have committed to play just as I have done around the world. It’s a shame if they view this as something that is different. I will appeal for sure.

'Of course, I’m going to appeal. It makes no sense. I’ve played the game all this time with two tour cards that gave me the ability to play all over the world. What’s wrong with that?'

The PGA Tour dramatically crashed the opening day of the Saudi breakaway series by immediately suspending its defectors in a major escalation of golf's civil war on Thursday.

In an explosive letter to PGA Tour members, sent within half an hour of the first tee shots at Centurion Club in St Albans, Tour commissioner Jay Monahan declared that 17 players, including Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Lee Westwood, Poulter, McDowell and Sergio Garcia, would be banned from their events indefinitely.

The same punishment will apply to players who enter future LIV competitions, with Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Reed expected to join in the coming weeks. LIV responded by calling the Tour 'vindictive'.

Monahan's letter read: 'Participation in the Saudi Golf League/LIV Golf event is in violation of our tournament regulations. These players have made their choice for their own financial-based reasons.

A statement from the LIV series led by Greg Norman (right) said the announcement from the PGA Tour was 'vindictive' and 'deepens the divide between the Tour and its members'

'I am certain our fans and partners — who are surely tired of all this talk of money, money and more money — will continue to be entertained and compelled by the world-class competition you display each and every week, where there are true consequences for every shot you take and your rightful place in history whenever you reach that elusive winner's circle.

'(The Tour's) legacy can't be bought or sold.'

As well as McDowell, Johnson, Martin Kaymer, Garcia, Branden Grace, Louis Oosthuizen, Kevin Na, Charl Schwartzel and Westwood had moved to nullify the impact of the expected sanctions by resigning their PGA Tour membership in advance of the LIV opener at Centurion.

The LIV series led by Greg Norman hit out with a statement that read: 'The announcement by the PGA Tour is vindictive and it deepens the divide between the Tour and its members.

'It's troubling that the Tour, an organisation dedicated to creating opportunities for golfers to play the game, is the entity blocking golfers from playing. This certainly is not the last word on this topic.'

The US Open have said those in the LIV series field will remain eligible, but longer term it has not been stated how the different organisers of the quartet of major championships — Augusta National, the PGA of America, the USGA and the R&A — will respond to players siding with LIV Golf.

Likewise the DP World Tour, formerly known as the European Tour, have remained silent on their own stance to the rebels.

Westwood and Poulter admitted on Wednesday that they do not know if they will ever again feature in the Ryder Cup.

Dustin Johnson jumped before others as he confirmed his resignation on Tuesday

Former world No 1 Johnson jumped before others have now been pushed as he confirmed he had resigned from the PGA Tour on Tuesday.

Johnson said: 'Obviously at this time it's hard to speak on what the consequences will be, but for right now, I've resigned my membership from the PGA Tour.

'I'm going to play here for now, and that's the plan. Majors, again I can't answer for them, but hopefully they are going to allow us to play.

'Obviously I'm exempt for the majors so I plan on playing there unless I hear otherwise.'

Mickelson, who still hopes to play in the US Open, and DeChambeau both insisted they had not offered their resignations to the PGA Tour, prior to day one of the LIV Invitational Series, but that was deemed irrelevant due to the PGA's announcement.

Brazilian police searching for a British journalist and an indigenous expert who vanished in a remote part of the Amazon rainforest say blood has been found on a boat belonging to a local fisherman who has been arrested.

Dom Phillips, a freelance journalist who has written about Brazil for The Guardian, The Washington Post, The New York Times and others, was last seen on Sunday, travelling deep into a lawless part of the jungle with Bruno Araujo Pereira, a former official with federal indigenous agency Funai.

The pair were last seen over the weekend in Javari Valley of Amazonas state - near the border with Peru.

According to The Guardian, Mr Pereira had received a number of threats from loggers and miners in the region.

Two Amazonas state police detectives directly involved in the case told Reuters news agency illegal fishing and poaching were likely behind their disappearance.

Police in the town of Atalaia do Norte questioned several fishermen as witnesses and arrested one of them, a local man called Amarildo da Costa, known as "Pelado", who was one of the last people to see the two men.

After searching Mr da Costa's boat for "possible genetic material", one of the detectives in the case said police were now investigating whether the traces of blood found were human or animal.

He is suspected of involvement in illegal fishing in indigenous areas.

His lawyer, Davi Oliveira, said his client was not involved in the disappearance of Mr Phillips and Mr Pereira and was only engaged in legal fishing.

A handout photo made available by the Brazilian Federal Police shows forensic experts examining a boat with traces of blood from a suspect in the disappearances of British journalist Dom Phillips, a contributor to The Guardian newspaper, and Brazilian indigenist Bruno Araujo Pereira, who have been missing since 05 June in Vale Do Javari, Brazil, 09 June 2022.

Region home to world's largest number of uncontacted tribes

The wild, unruly Javari region where the pair were last seen is home to the world's largest number of uncontacted indigenous people.

It has also lured cocaine smugglers, as well as illegal hunters and fishermen who travel deep into the Javari Valley to find protected species - such as the pirarucu fish - which is sold in regional markets.

Javari has grown increasingly tense and perilous in recent years, and in 2019, Maxciel Pereira dos Santos, who worked with Funai to shut down illegal fishing in the valley, was shot dead in Tabatinga.

Politicians, celebrities, journalists and activists have urged Brazil's president Jair Bolsonaro and his government to intensify efforts to find Mr Phillips and Mr Pereira.

Brazilian justice minister Anderson Torres said he had told British foreign office minister Vicky Ford that Brazil would keep up the search for Mr Phillips until it had exhausted all possibilities.

Mr Torres said he had 300 people, two aircraft and 20 boats conducting the search in what he called a "very difficult region".

"Even if you have 30 aircraft, one million people, it may not work," said Mr Torres, who was also pressed to maintain the search at the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles by US climate envoy John Kerry.

Paul Sherwood, the partner of Mr Phillips's sister Sian, wrote on Twitter: "We implore the Brazilian authorities to send the national guard, federal police and all the powers at their disposal to find our cherished Dom.

"He loves Brazil and has committed his career to coverage of the Amazon rainforest. We understand that time is of the essence so please find our Dom as quickly as possible."

Sian Phillips told Sky News she is concerned there is illegal logging and drug trafficking in the area where he disappeared.

"I'm very anxious. I'm desperately worried. It's your worst fear," she said.

"We need everything thrown at this. We want UK officials to put pressure on the Brazilian authorities to act."
